Chapped lips are typically caused by dehydration. This can happen whey you have been exposed to the sun or wind for too long. Ironically enough, constantly licking your lips can get them dehydrated.
Solutions for Chapped or Cracked Lips
Rehydration – You can soak your lips daily to get them rehydrated. To do this, mix a pinch of salt in about 8 ounces of warm water, stir until dissolved. Take a wash cloth and soak up the mixture. Apply the cloth to your lips for about five minutes. Once you have done this you’ll want to seal in the moisture by applying vaseline. The best time to do this is right before you go to bed.
Lip Balm – When selecting a lip balm, look for one with at least SPF 15. This will help to keep your lips moist and will help protect against sun damage.
