How Will Your Dentist Screen For Oral Cancer?
Your dentist will feel for lumps or irregular tissue changes in your neck, head, cheeks and oral cavity. He will also check the soft tissues in your mouth, looking in particularly for any sores or discolored tissues. He may also use rinses, dyes or a special light that detects abnormal cells.
Oral cancer screening should be part of your regular exam, please make sure that your dentist is including this. Early detection can make a big difference with oral cancer.
