What is plaque and how does it affect your teeth?

Fighting tooth decayPlaque is made up of saliva, food particles and oral bacteria that adheres itself to your teeth. If you run your tongue along your teeth and you feel a gritty surface, that’s plaque!

When you have foods or beverages that contain sugar or starch, the bacteria produces acids. In turn these acids attack your tooth enamel and causes tooth decay. Tooth decay is an infection that permanently damages tooth structure, eventually causing cavities.

Most tooth decay is 100% preventable! If you catch your tooth decay early it can be much more affordable to get it taken care of.
