In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends all preteen boys and girls be vaccinated for HPV, which may help in reducing the risk of oral cancer. The vaccines are also recommended for males through age 21 and females through age 26, if they have not already gotten the vaccine when they were a preteen.
It is extremely important to maintain regular dental visits that include an exam, every six months is optimal. Even between dental visits you can regularly examine your own mouth for the symptoms of oral cancer.
