Dry mouth, which is also called xerostomia, is an inadequate flow of saliva. It is caused either by a medical disorder or because of the side affect of a medication.
Some of the common problems associated with this condition are, trouble speaking, hoarseness, hard to swallow, sore throat, burning sensation or dry nasal passages.
You can suffer from extensive tooth decay if you don’t have enough saliva. Talk to your dentist, he can recommend several methods to try and restore saliva flow. A couple of suggestions are, eat sugar-free candy or chew gum, both of these can help stimulate saliva flow.
