Today I will answer two commonly asked questions about dental implants.
1. How does the placement of the implant work?
The first step your dentist will do is perform a surgery to place the implant in your jaw. Then we allow time to pass so the bone can heal and grow around the implant, this is what holds it in place. Finally, your dentist will place a crown on the post that acts and looks like a natural tooth.
2. How long will the implant placement take?
Typically the surgery to place the actual implant takes about 1-2 hours. After that the healing process starts, that can vary from person to person but it may take up to six weeks. The final step is getting the crown on the post, this can take from 1-3 weeks.
Some dental implants can take longer than other procedures, for example a bridge, but the benefits of implants are well worth it. To see the many 9 benefits of dental implants, please visit our dental implant page.
